Minutes of the last HCS meeting

Open Meeting on July 15th 2010 at The Admiral Rodney Hotel.

Present

Bob Pendell (Chair), June Benton, Bob Wayne, David Birchall, Margaret Brand, Ann Clark, David Lawrence, David Platt, Joe Roe, Keith Sellars and Ruth Williams.

Apologies

Trevor & Margaret Butterworth, Karel Jonkers, Dorothy Platt and Pearl Wheatley.

Chairman's Report

We are keeping a high profile with regular features in the local press. Our planned exhibition is attracting a lot of interest and support. The sub committee will give a progress report at our next meeting.

A meeting was held with our three District Councillors who have offered their support and become members. They will highlight some of our complaints with council officers.

Anorther meeting has been held regarding the Town Hall future and renovations at the War Memorial Centre. We have been asked to assist in some of the Town Hall renovations.

Matters Arising from April Meeting

There was no further information on Tesco's new store, improved Astro Turf footpath future awaits its transfer to the Town Council, Lunn Blue Plaque being discussed with site owner and no progress with renovation plans for the Independent Chapel in East Street

Correspondence

There was no correspondence.

Treasurers Report

Members are reminded that annual subscriptions are due.

Planning Applications

Numerous planning applications were discussed at length and decisions made re our policy.

Projects

Horncastle in Bloom - Two more planters have been installed that featured in the local press. A third one is due to be placed at the War Memorial Centre soon. Two more are being considered.
It was suggested we organise litter picking sessions in the future.

Any Other Business

Street cleaning by the council was considered inadequate and Tesco car park needs attentiion to drainage and lighting. The pagoda area needs cleaning and the litter bins are in the wrong places. These will be discussed with the council.
